YFC Winnipeg launches free Boy’s Club Basketball program for youth aged 13–17 focused on skill, character, and community
YFC Winnipeg has announced details for its Club Basketball program, a no-cost opportunity designed for youth aged 13–17 (Grades 8–12) to grow in their basketball skills while developing strong character and life values. The program runs Thursdays from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at 333 King Street, from September 18 to December 11, 2025.
Club Basketball has two core purposes — to give every young person the chance to grow in basketball skill and knowledge, and to connect them with positive, passionate coaches who care about their development on and off the court. The program is open to all, with a special focus on youth who may not have made local club teams or who face financial barriers. There are no fees to participate — cost should never be a barrier to playing the game.
Each evening follows a structured and supportive format: warm-ups and skill-building drills, followed by short “team time” sessions led by coaches that focus on life and faith lessons, and ending with weekly scrimmages where players put their learning into action. Coaches emphasize mentorship, teamwork, and creating a safe, encouraging environment for everyone.
The program is guided by six key values:

- Inclusion – Everyone deserves an opportunity to play.
- Teamwork – We’re stronger when we work together.
- Integrity – Fairness, honesty, and responsibility on and off the court.

YFC Winnipeg’s broader mission is to see every young person living fully in Christ, growing physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Club Basketball supports that mission by offering players a place to thrive in their passions, build confidence, and be a light in their communities.
Participants must bring a parent or guardian to complete a waiver at their first session and wear proper gym clothes and non-marking shoes. All other equipment will be provided.
