Former University of Winnipeg standout Keylyn Filewich has signed a professional contract with Östersund Basket in Sweden’s premier women’s basketball league, SBL Dam, marking her fourth season as a professional player.
Filewich, a 6’1” forward from Winnipeg, joins the Swedish club after two successful seasons in Germany’s second division with Bochum. Last season, she averaged 14 points and 11 rebounds in over 35 minutes per game, anchoring her team to a championship run.
“I’m very happy to join Östersund Basketball,” said Filewich. “Choosing Sweden was about more than just basketball — it felt like a great fit both on and off the court. The team’s culture and cohesion align perfectly with the way I like to play.”
Coach Max Tandberg Vall of Östersund Basket shared his enthusiasm about the signing: “Keylyn comes to us after a strong season in Germany and brings a desire to continue developing her game. She’s a versatile frontcourt player who adds size, skill, and balance on both ends of the floor.”
The move marks another milestone for Filewich, who continues to represent Manitoba basketball on the global stage as she begins her fourth year as a professional player.
