Providence Pilots Women’s Basketball has announced the signing of Samantha Bergen for the 2025-26 season. The 5’8” forward from New Bothwell, Manitoba, joins the program after graduating from Steinbach Regional Secondary School. She becomes the seventh recruit for the upcoming season.
“I am excited that I got to receive this opportunity to continue my career in basketball. I believe Providence will better my skills and mentality towards this game. As excited as I am to actually play the game, I am also excited to be a part of a team. I think it is a great way to begin my college life and can’t wait to see what it will bring me. I look forward to this upcoming year and being able to be a pilot!” said Bergen.
Steinbach Regional Head Coach Ray Algera commented, “Sam will be an excellent addition to the team. She desires to improve her game at each practice and enjoys coming to the gym. Sam has no fear to run the lanes and drive to the basket. Her perimeter shooting has improved alongside her confidence to shoot. Sam sets solid screens and has quick feet which enable her to defend well 1-on-1. I’m looking forward to watching her play for the Pilots this year.”
Coach Kendall Perpall added, “We’re excited to welcome Sam to the Pilots family. She plays with great energy, has a strong willingness to learn, and brings a fearless mindset to the court. Her ability to attack the rim, make plays, and compete on defence will make an immediate impact. I’m excited to see how she grows in our system and contributes to our success this season.”
