Basketball Manitoba is pleased to share that Winnipeg’s Mason Kraus has been named to Canada’s men’s roster for the FIBA U23 3×3 Nations League 2025, set to take place in Punta Arenas, Chile from July 21 to 27. The announcement was made by Canada Basketball as part of its official team reveal for both the men’s and women’s squads competing in the Americas 2 conference of the international competition.

Kraus, a standout product at the Univeristy of Manitoba and of the Manitoba basketball system, is one of six athletes selected for the men’s team. He joins a group of emerging national-level talent that includes Ethan Boag, Tate Christiansen, Owen Kenney, Yohann Sam, and Shadynn Smid. The squad will be coached by Daniel Ferguson, who cited the versatility of both Kraus and Kenney as key strengths in rounding out the Canadian lineup. Kraus’s inclusion is a clear recognition of his high-level skill set, basketball IQ, and his ability to contribute on both ends of the court in the dynamic and fast-paced 3×3 format.

Canada will begin pool play on July 21 against host nation Chile. The Nations League format includes multiple games, with points from each round contributing to overall conference standings. The top-ranked team at the end of the week will qualify for the FIBA U23 3x3 Nations League Final, set for September in Xiong An, China. With limited roster spots and high competition for national representation, Mason’s selection speaks volumes about his development and readiness to compete at this level.

Representing Manitoba on the international stage, Kraus continues to be a strong example of the impact of the province’s high-performance pathway.

Basketball Manitoba congratulates Mason Kraus on this tremendous accomplishment and wishes him and Team Canada the very best as they take on the Americas and aim for qualification to the world finals.
