The Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) has announced a premier event that connects sport and business, with the upcoming Commissioner’s Luncheon scheduled for Friday, August 22, 2025, at The RBC Convention Centre in Winnipeg, as part of Championship Weekend.

Hosted in partnership with The Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce, the event will feature a powerhouse panel of industry leaders exploring how brands can strategically align with sport to drive growth, deepen community connections, and create long-term value.

CEBL Commissioner and Co-Founder Mike Morreale will lead the panel discussion, bringing his experience building the CEBL into one of the top FIBA leagues in the world. Under his leadership, the league now features NBA, G League, and international talent while maintaining over 70% Canadian athlete participation. He has also introduced innovations like the Target Score Ending, crypto player payments, and the league’s streaming platform, CEBL+.

Joining Morreale on stage will be a lineup of some of the most respected executives in Canadian sport and business:

  • Stephanie Withall, Vice President, Business & Marketing Operations, Canada Basketball

  • Norva Riddell, Sr. Vice President, Sales & Chief Revenue Officer, True North Sports and Entertainment

  • Mark Loewen, President and General Manager, Telpay

  • Cheryl Sebastian, Associate Vice President, Global Partnerships, NBA

Each panellist brings a unique perspective shaped by decades of experience with global brands, professional leagues, and national sport organizations. Together, they will explore how sport, and basketball in particular, serves as a powerful platform for brand engagement, community impact, and innovation.

This event is part of the Chamber’s monthly luncheon series and promises invaluable insights for marketers, entrepreneurs, business leaders, and basketball stakeholders.
