Canada Basketball has announced that Manitoba’s Robyn Boulanger has been named a recipient of the 2025 Mike MacKay Transformational Coaching Award, presented by Canada Basketball. This national honour recognizes coaches who promote and strengthen basketball leadership and culture through equity, diversity, and inclusion while delivering positive, impactful sport experiences.
Boulanger, a former standout student-athlete at the University of Winnipeg, has made a significant mark on the coaching landscape. She currently serves as an assistant coach with the Wesmen women’s basketball program and has led teams for Basketball Manitoba at the provincial level. In addition, she founded Zaagi’idiwin Sport Performance—a training initiative that supports the development of Indigenous and non-Indigenous athletes alike. Her commitment to culturally relevant coaching and her role in advancing Indigenous female leadership in sport has distinguished her among her peers.
In recognition of her leadership and dedication, Boulanger will receive a $2,500 bursary to support her ongoing development. She is also currently enrolled in the Master of Coaching Studies program at the University of Victoria, with aspirations to continue her growth as a high-performance coach.
