The University of Winnipeg Women's Basketball program is inviting the basketball community to join the annual SHOOT-A-THON, in support of the Canadian Cancer Society's Shoot for the Cure campaign.

Join the SHOOT-A-THON!

To the benefit of: The Canadian Cancer Society – Shoot for the Cure

Hosted by: the University of Winnipeg Wesmen women’s basketball program

How does a free throw shoot-a-thon work?

  • Participants will shoot 100 free throws and record the number of made shots. Collect sponsors to pledge a monetary amount to donate per made free throw.
  • For example: An athlete makes 83 out of 100 shots and has a sponsor for $1.50. This sponsor then donates $1.50 x 83 made free throws = $124.50 donation.
  • Sponsors can also choose to donate a set amount, rather than a per-make donation.

How can you participate?

  1. Print off a sponsor sheet, then ask friends and family to sponsor you. If they agree, fill out the sponsor’s name, contact information, and pledge amount. After the shoot-a-thon, you can contact them to collect their donation. See donation instructions below.
  2. Raise $500.00 as a team and gain free admission to the women’s basketball Shoot for the Cure game on Saturday, January 28th at 7:00 pm against the University of the Fraser Valley. Don’t forget to wear pink!
  3. *Please contact Coach Alyssa Cox by email at al.cox@uwinnipeg.ca if you are participating so that we can make the arrangements for your team’s admission to the game. Your donations should be made before the attending the game.*
