Today on the Basketball Manitoba podcast, we have Amarjit (AJ) Basi.

He is a professional basketball player who recently played professional basketball in the British Basketball League.

He graduated from Sturgeon Heights Colligate in Winnipeg, where he was ranked 3rd in the province and was selected to the All-Manitoba team.  After high school, he played for the University of Manitoba, where he helped the program reach the Nation Championship Tournament in 2017, the first appearance for the program in 32 years.

He ended his career with the Bisons 4th all-time in scoring, 3rd in field goals made, 1st in 3-point field goals, 6th in steals, 6th in games played, and 2nd in free throw percentage and was the captain of the team in his last two years.

After college, he played in England, suiting up for New Castle Eagles of the British Basketball League.  He also played in Italy and Germany.

He is currently recovering from Achilles surgery and looking forward to returning to playing when he’s healthy.  In the meantime, he’s been coaching with the Attack club basketball program and the Nxt Gen Hoops program with Basketball Manitoba.
