The Pilots make a splash with their first addition for the 22-23 season. Claire Grislis becomes the 5th player that coach Coursey has signed from Westgate Mennonite Collegiate in his time leading the Pilots. Claire joins a strong core of returning players and adds size and length to the growing roster. The 5’10” forward has seen her fair share of recognition for her accomplishments. Grislis was an SCAC All-Star this season, while also holding a high standard in the classroom, receiving Honor Roll with Distinction. Westgate recognized Claire with their highest award, as the female Athlete of the Year.

When not playing basketball, Claire enjoys camping, travelling, and volunteering at summer camps. She is truly an outdoors person when she’s not perfecting her game in the gym. Claire is known by others as a leader who is responsible and enthusiastic about all that she does. Her enthusiasm and leadership show greatly on the court as she has played a valuable role on each team that she has been a part of. Providence will look for her to continue showing those valuable attributes during her time as a Pilot.

“I am very excited for the opportunity to play basketball next year and be a part of the team. I look forward to continuing my growth as a player and as a person, surrounded by the Providence community.” Clair Grislis

“I am thrilled that Claire has decided to join our program. It is hard to find players as long and athletic as she is. I think that Claire has a lot of potential and our goal is to help her to grow as a player and teammate. She has the character and integrity that we look for in our players and she really wants to be here. Claire’s older sister Alex played for us in the 19-20 season, and she was beloved by her teammates. Claire comes from a great family, and she doesn’t fall far from that tree. I am excited to start working with her and see how she can contribute next season!” Joel Coursey

Claire plans to enter the health sciences program at Providence next fall.
