Cross Canada Tour Details

Elite Athletes (EA) is a grassroots and youth basketball academy and training facility based in Antwerp, Belgium. EA was founded by Joerik Michiels and Olivier Goetgeluck in 2010  with the goal of providing youth basketball players the chance to develop their games in a community-oriented environment; remaining with similar coaches, players and methods throughout the duration of their elementary and high-school careers. Unlike other academies, EA focused on specializing the roles of each coach and trainer; designating positions for shooting, strength and conditioning, tactical, and academic coaches, among many others. In doing so, Elite Athletes has remained innovative and detail-oriented to a degree that their competitors have not, be that locally in Europe, or globally. Today, EA’s Elite Academy encompasses 9 teams across 7 age divisions, frequently seeing their players compete for local post-secondary teams, North American colleges and universities, national programs and professional teams all around the world.

Leading us from Belgium for the Cross Canada Tour will be:

Joerik Michiels: International Pro Skills Trainer

  • Trainer of over 150 Pro Clients.
  • NBA Europe Skills Trainer
  • NBA Basketball Without Borders Clinician

Mathieu Detiege: International Shooting Coach

  • Belgium Shooting Coach
  • Elite Academy Shooting Coach

Hosting the Elite Athletes team is Canada’s Tanner Brightman; Golden Ticket Sports co-founder and Elite Academy U21 Head Coach.. With 8+ years of provincial team head coaching experience in his home province of Saskatchewan, and having facilitated numerous professional-grade coaching clinics, including Best in the West and the 2021 Canada Basketball Super Clinic, Brightman brings a breadth of knowledge and understanding of basketball and player development seldom seen in Canada. Renowned by his peers for his utilization of European techniques and methodologies, Tanner has benefited greatly from working alongside Joerik, Mathieu and the entire team at EA, and is thrilled to share his knowledge with Canadian athletes.

Together, Golden Ticket Sports and Elite Athletes promise to provide each attendee with innovative, creative and effective strategies and skills gathered from a global perspective that will have an immediate impact on each athlete’s game.
