The Providence College Women's Basketball Team has announced that Asha Donnelly has becomes the fifth Pilot signed this off-season. Landing at Providence, from the highly touted Oak Park Raiders program, Donnelly the 5’5” guard brings a high level of experience from playing for Murray Brown, the long time coach of the Raiders. She has also spent the last year training with the Manitoba Targeted Athlete Program (TAP).

Known for being an extremely hard worker and dedicated to self improvement, Donnelly comes to the Pilots to make a difference and bring her well balanced game to the highly talented Pilots team. She also brings a lot of awards and achievements to the Pilots team having been awarded MVP in her grade 7, 8 and 9 basketball school teams as well as MVP of Manitoba Magic, her club team, in grade 9.  Donnelly tore her ACL in grade 10 and recovered in grade 11. Prior to surgery, while playing on a brace, she won various player of the game awards. Oak Park Varsity was ranked fifth in the province. Donnelly was recognized and awarded an honourable mention in the Winnipeg Sun's Top Ten ranking this year. She was also awarded the Alex Samaniego Memorial Scholarship from Basketball Manitoba last month.

“I am excited to be joining the Providence women’s basketball team this upcoming season,” said Donnelly, “I look forward to ‘taking off’ with the Pilots as I begin my next journey with my new teammates.”

Along with basketball Donnelly is passionate about music and is planning on studying science at Providence.

Head coach Joel Coursey commented on his newest recruit by saying, “I am very excited to add Asha to our basketball program. I have heard many great things about her skills on the court, but even more about her incredible work ethic. It is great to add a player who has proven that she can persevere through a major injury and continue to grow and excel through her recovery process. I am looking forward to working with Asha this fall, and see how she can contribute to our team’s success. I believe Asha has found a great home at Providence and I look forward to her flying with us this fall!“
