Coach Scott Kirkpatrick(5th year) had this to say about Tocci, “Frankie is a game-changer on the defensive end of the floor with his IQ, communication skills, rebounding ability, and he is an excellent rim protector when he’s on the floor.”  Kirkpatrick went on to add “Frankie is a gifted offensive rebounder, and strong finisher on the other end of the court as well.  Fans and opponents will see his athletic ability in the games and focus on that, but what they won’t see is how much he will improve our player leadership on and off the court.”

Kirkpatricks and Tocci’s relationship goes back many years with Kirkpatrick having coached and taught Tocci in high school.  Kirkpatrick see’s Tocci as a high character individual “ Having known him as well as I do, I can see he is hungry to go out and play and remind others that he still has a lot of basketball left in him, and I also know that he will bring tremendous value to our team with his high character and locker room leadership this season. Frankie will hold himself and others accountable to a very high standard and he will be the first person to correct his mistakes, and the last one to point a finger when things don’t go as planned.   ”

WINNIPEG, MB – Red River College has announced the addition of Trezon Morcilla to the Rebels Men’s Basketball team

Morcilla a 6’3” forward/guard from Garden City Collegiate, who was the #2 ranked player in the Winnipeg Sun Top Ten Rankings will join the Rebels for the upcoming season and is registered in the Welding Program.

Head Coach Scott Kirkpatrick (5th year) had this to say about Morcilla ”Having coached against him for years in Club basketball and also in High School, I learned a long time ago that Tre has a real knack for making the right play at the right time and he thrives in the biggest moments.  Having been on the wrong side of the scoreboard a few too many times in the past, I am really excited that he will be on our team this time around. “

Morcilla has played for several great coaches and programs and will bring a great deal of experience and savvy to the team.  Morcilla can fill multiple positions on the offensive and defensive side of the floor, and his 3-point shooting and shot-making will open up the floor for others on the court with him.

Kirkpatrick had this to say about Morcilla’s game “A lot of people will view him as a scorer first, but we think his playmaking is a very underrated part of his game that people may take notice of this season. During our summer league, Tre often matched up defensively with bigger post players and he was able to hold his own and more every game. “
