THE CAMP IS NOW SOLD OUT.  Basketball Manitoba is pleased to announce details that it will be hosting a special athlete camp in Winnipeg at the new Canada Games Centre in Winnipeg as part of is High Performance Camp series.  The School 4 Hoops Shooting and 1on1 Camp, lead by coach Jon Giesbrecht is set for October 20-21 and targets male and female athletes ages 11-15  

Coach Jon Giesbrecht
Currently an assistant coach with the Winnipeg Wesmen Men’s Basketball program, Jon brings experience from all levels, including work with youth, high school, university, national team, and professional players. Jon has four years of experience working with university athletes - Two years with the Winnipeg Wesmen and two years with the Manitoba Bison.

On top of Jon’s university coaching experience he has worked with the Basketball Manitoba’s Provincial teams - totaling three years of experience, including a National Championship in 2014 with the 17U Male group, first in the province’s history. Most recently in 2015-16, Jon was a part of the John Taylor Collegiate Varsity Boys team which won the ‘AAAA’ provincial championship, second in program’s history. Including the latest high school championship, Jon was a part of two Junior Varsity provincial championships in 2010-11 and 2013-14. Jon’s individual coaching honours include: 2013-14 Junior Varsity Coach of the Year, 2010-11 WMBA Bruce Russell Memorial Coach of the Year, and recipient of the Jim Bulloch award presented by Basketball Manitoba.

Clinic Cost:
  • $65.00 per athlete (taxes included)
  • Includes 5 hours of court time with Coach Giesbrecht and a camp T-shirt
Deadline to Register:
  • Wednesday October 18, 2017 at 5:00 pm OR when the camp sells out (a wait-list option will be provided once the camp is full).
Clinic Notes:
  • Basketballs will be provided on site for all to use.  
  • The Friday of this weekend is the province-wide 'SAGE' in-service day (no classes) and the Saturday will see no WMBA games scheduled as the Super Coaches Clinic is running all day for all league coaches.
  • Players are to attend BOTH days of the camp (5 hours of court time in all)  
  • Players are asked to show up 15-30 minutes prior to the Friday session to register. Registration will begin at 10:30 am on the Friday (no sooner)
  • Players are asked to come dressed ready to participate including non-marking runners, shorts and a t-shirt.  A towel and water bottle are also recommended but not required.

Area Parking

During the day, street parking is metered and costs $2.00 for 2 hours. After 5:30 pm, there is FREE unlimited street parking available in the building area.  There are other area paid surface lots in the area which are managed by Impark.  See a live area parking map here.   The Canada Games Sport for Life Centre Parkade is accessible off of Alexander Ave (see below map).  The parkade rates are as follows:

Monday - Friday
6:00am - 6:00pm $2/hr
6:00pm - 12:00am $3/hr
Saturday & Sunday
6:00am - 12:00am $3/hr
