CAMPS FILLING UP - SESSION 2 SOLD OUT!: Basketball Manitoba is pleased to announce details of it's upcoming Spring Break High Performance Camps for boys and girls ages 10-16 to run Monday, March 30 to Thursday, April 2.  A cap of 24 participants per camp is in place so register now!  Deadline is FRIDAY MARCH 27 at 4:30 pm or when the camp sells out!



GIRLS CAMP

The girls sessions will be lead Basketball Manitoba High Performance Coach Randy Kusano and Provincial Team Coaches Alyssa Grant and Amey Ogidan.

Coach Bios: 

Randy Kusano was the winningest coach in the history of high school basketball in Manitoba. His high school teams won three MHSAA (Manitoba High School Athletic Association) AAAA Provincial Championships provincial titles, 11 conference titles and he coached in 15 AAAA Final Fours in his 34 years coaching with the Oak Park Raiders in Winnipeg before retiring from teaching in 2010. A University of Manitoba graduate, Kusano is a current fully certified NCCP Level 3 coach with nearly 25 years of CIS coaching experience as an assistant with the Bison men’s and women's basketball program.  READ MORE...

Alyssa Grant attended Oak Park high school from 2006-2009 where she was named team MVP two years in a row. In her grade 12 year she was named to the All-Manitoba team and also received the Carl Ridd Award for excellence in school, community and sport involvement. In her graduating year at Oak Park she was named Athlete of the Year and left to play for the University of Winnipeg Women’s Basketball team. Alyssa is has just completed her 5th and final year playing for the University of Winnipeg. Amey Ogidan is currently the head varsity girls coach at Maples Collegiate, as position she has held for two years.  Amey has served as a coach in the Centre For Performance since 2012.  She also coaches in the Basketball Manitoba High Performance Camps along with other skill development programs and the WMBA.  Most recently, Amey has been invited by Basketball Canada to guest coach at the Western Canada Age Assessment Identification Camp being held in late March at the Women's National Team training center in Edmonton, Alberta.  READ MORE...

Lead Coach Bio:

Kirby Schepp has been an active basketball coach since 1993 and is currently the Head Coach of Men's Basketball at the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg. He was Manitoba's Canada Games Male Coach in 2009 and has served as the Head Coach of Canada Basketball’s CP Prairie Region Boy's Program from 2005 to 2009 (involved since 2001) and is one of Basketball Manitoba's most active NCCP Course Conductor (Levels 1-3). He is also very involved in the redevelopment of the NCCP model at the national level and is one of Manitoba's few Master Learning Facilitators. He held the position as Manitoba's High Performance Provincial Coach from 2007 to 2009.  His past experience with basketball coaching has been that of President of the MBCA, university assistant coach and university athlete at the University of Winnipeg. Kirby was also named both the AAAA Boys Coach of the Year and the Coaching Manitoba School System Coach of the Year in 2007. Kirby has also been an assistant coach with Canada's Cadet National Team.   READ MORE...
