Linden Christian School has announced it will be hosting its 5th annual Hoops for Hope Basketball Tournament on February 13-15, 2014. It is the goal of LCS to once again provide a top quality Varsity basketball tournament, as well as use the sport of basketball to reach out to our local and global communities. The 2014 Tournament will be supporting 'Kickballs for Kids'. After starting with a single soccer ball in Tanzania, K4K has now delivered more than 2500 soccer balls, has reached children in more than 30 countries and 5 continents, and has sponsored schools in 7 different African nations.
In addition, we will be coordinating a gently used equipment and sneaker drive for ‘Basketballs for Inner City Kids’. Basketballs for Inner City Kids supports a number of inner city basketball teams and is a grassroots project that gives children in Winnipeg's inner city free basketballs. Since the project started in 2006, they have given out over 2,500 basketballs to kids in Winnipeg.
The Hoops for Hope Tournament has raised more than $13,000.00 over the past 4 years! A big ‘Thank you’ to our basketball referee community who donate their time to make the tournament a success!
The tournament will feature Varsity boys teams this year, and kicks off on Thursday, Feb 13 with a “White out” game at 2:30pm. Free admission to all spectators wearing white.
