The CMU men’s and women’s basketball teams are about to host the third annual Holiday Inn Airport-West Invitational Tournament this Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Joining the Blazers are three nearby members of Canada-West, the Brandon Bobcats, Manitoba Bisons and Winnipeg Wesmen, two Alberta College programs, the Medicine Hat Rattlers and Briercrest Clippers and nearby college opponents the Red River Rebels.

“The tournament is a chance for all of these teams to get games against opponents that they do not see in their regular conferences,” explained CMU Director of Athletics Russell Willms, “it is some incredibly exciting high-level local basketball and we are also looking forward to welcoming home two CMU athletes that have moved into the CIS.”

Willms speaks of new Bison forward Wyatt Anders (left) who has been welcomed into the herd at U of M and point guard Carrera Lamoureux (above) who will be taking her game to Brandon where she is pushing for a starting spot with the Bobcats. Both former Blazers spent two years in the Manitoba Colleges Conference before embarking on a new path in Canada West.

The action gets underway on Thursday afternoon when the CMU women will tip-off with Lamoureux and Brandon University at 2 PM. The CMU men will play Briercrest later at 8 PM. See below for other games and times:
