SCHEDULE RELEASED: Basketball fans, stay out of the heat and come down to the Duckworth Centre to support the 1st Annual Girls Summer Wesmen Classic on July 13th through to the 15th. Lakehead is travelling from Thunder Bay to seek bragging rights while the MB Super All-Stars look to showcase their experience, talent and tricks. Exciting athletes to watch from the All-stars squad include UVic Vikes 4th year guard Debbie Yeboah, Winnipeg Alumni Michelle Foreman, Bison Alumni’s Lauren Mortier, Mubo Illelaboye and Bisons CIS Champion Anne Smith. Local University squads feature the Winnipeg Wesmen, in action is the exciting new rookie Wesmen guard Katie Waring from Alberta, and dominating post Lauren Anderson from Westwood Collegiate. The Manitoba Bison will bring on veteran Lethbridge transfer Morgan Cross, and the Brandon Bobcats will feature new and current players. SUMMER WESMEN CLASSIC UPDATE:
- Open canteen, toonie ball draw, (possible) silent auction
- Players/parents/fans- bring some cash/change with you this weekend, as you can participate during any half time to win prizes by paying a (Toonie, $2) to have the chance to hit a centre court shot. The more toonie‘s you pay, the more shots you get.
- All proceeds go to the College Wesmen Women’s program
This is a fundraising tournament for the College Wesmen program, to where all profits will go.
Daily admission will be charged at the door, $5 adults, $3 students!
