http://www.basketballmanitoba.ca/images/stories/Misc_Logos/TeamToba-2011.pngBasketball Manitoba has announced that it is now accepting applications for the 2012 and 2013 Manitoba Provincial Team Program coaching positions.  In 2012, there will be 6 Provincial Teams offered (male and female 15U, 16U, 17U teams) with the 15U and 17U attending a national championship in August and the 16U attending the first ever Western Canada Cadet Championships in Edmonton.  The 16U team is being created to springboard the program to the 2013 Canada Summer Games in Quebec.  The 16U team will be created out of athletes who are on one of the 8 male or 8 female Manitoba Games teams.  Interested candidates are to apply in writing before the deadline of Friday November 25, 2011 in order to be considered. Basketball Manitoba, one of the
province's leading sports governing bodies, annually runs provincial teams to
provide elite athletes with a unique opportunity to develop their skills
through a high quality summer practices and challenging competition

  2. 'Head Coach 15U', 'Assistant Coach 15U' for the 15U Female Provincial Team Program

  3. 'Head Coach 16U', 'Assistant Coach 16U' for the 16U Male Provincial Team Program (team formed following the 2012 Manitoba Games in Swan River, MB).  Note: Priority for this position will be granted to a coach currently involved in the 2012 Manitoba Games.

  4. 'Head Coach 16U', 'Assistant Coach 16U' for the 16U Female Provincial Team Program (team formed following the 2012 Manitoba Games in Swan River, MB).  Note: Priority for this position will be granted to a coach currently involved in the 2012 Manitoba Games.

  5. 'Head Coach 17U', 'Assistant Coach 17U' and 'Manager 17U' for the 17U Male 'Canada Games' Provincial Team Program

  6. 'Head Coach 17U', 'Assistant Coach 17U' and 'Manager 17U' for the 17U Female 'Canada Games' Provincial Team Program


2012* 


All tryouts for the 15U & 17U programs will beheld in early April 2012 with the programs running through the spring and summer with training and competitions through to August.  The 17U & 15U Male teams will participate in the 2012 National Championships to be hosted in Sherbrooke, Quebec while the 17U & 15U Female teams will participate in the 2012 National Championships in Fredericton, NB, both in August 2012.  The '16U' Provincial Team will be formed following the 2012 Manitoba Games in mid-July and then train leading up to the 2012 Western Canada Cadet Championships in Edmonton, AB in early August 2012.  


2013*


All tryouts for the 15U, 16U & 17U programs will be held in early April 2013 with the programs running through the spring and summer with training and competitions through to August.  The 15U Male & 15U Female teams will participate in the 2013 National Championships to be hosted in St. John's, Newfoundland in August 2013.  The 16U Male & 16U Female teams will participate in the Western Canada Cadet Championships in Saskatchewan.  The 17U Male & 17U Female teams will participate in the 2013 Canada Summer Games in Sherbrooke, Quebec in August 2013.

Coaching Criteria - All Levels 


  • Head Coach = Certified NCCP 'Introduction to Competition - Advanced** OR Full Level 3 NCCP Certification AND a minimum 5 seasons of experience
    as a head coach or equivalent experience.

  • Assistant Coach = Certified NCCP 'Introduction to Competition - Advanced** OR Full Level 2 NCCP Certification AND a minimum 3 seasons of experience as a head or assistant coach or equivalent experience.

  • Manager A minimum of 3 seasons of experience as a head or assistant coach or equivalent experience.  No certification required 

  • Coaches can either apply as a 'team' of coaches or individually as a head or assistant coach to be partnered up with other successful candidates.

  • Male Head Coaches of female teams must have a female Assistant Coach and male Manager (if applicable) and Female Head Coaches of male teams must have a male Assistant Coach and male Manager (if applicable)

  • All coaches must complete the Sport Manitoba Respect in Sport online program

  • All coaches will be undergo a Police Records Check and Child Abuse Registry Check.

  • All coaches must have also completed a first aid and
    athlete injury educational program recognized by Basketball Manitoba.**


** Basketball Manitoba will provide all successful coaches in the program an NCCP certification opportunity at the ITCA level and first aid / injury prevention in the spring of 2012.




Honorarium


Successful
applicants are eligible to receive an honorarium at the completion of the
summer program.
