As part of the St. Boniface Research Foundation's honouring of Steve Nash in Winnipeg this Monday, the hospital has confirmed that the player's clinic that it has set up with the U of M Bisons and U of W Wesmen teams along with a select few players from the inner city and set for Monday, September 12th from 1:30 -2:30 pm at the University of Manitoba Investors Group Athletic Centre, will be open to the public to view.  With the help of Coach Kirby Schepp from the University of Manitoba and Coach Mike Raimbault from the University of Winnipeg and their teams, Steve Nash (two-time NBA MVP with the Phoenix Suns and winner of this year’s St Boniface Hospital Foundation International Award for humanitarian activities) will participate in a basketball clinic with 10 inner city basketball players at the Investors Group Athletic Centre at the University of Manitoba (75 Sidney Smith Street).  Following this, Steve has indicated that he will also speak to the players and the audience that will be assembled in the bleachers. He will speak to the crowd on the importance of nutrition in an athlete’s life amongst other topics. All are invited to attend and view in the bleacher area. Steve Nash Dinner Tickets Over 90% Sold Out: Dinner Set for Sept 12 


The St. Boniface Reasearch Foundation has announced that NBA star Steve Nash of the Phoenix Suns will be honoured this September in Winnipeg as the 2011 winner of the St. Boniface Hospital Foundation's International Award. The award recognizes his outstanding commitment a number of underprivileged communities throughout the world through the Steve Nash Foundation.   Since 1976, the award has been handed out to a diverse selection of health researchers and humanitarian heroes. Nash's name will join a list that already includes Dr. Christiaan Barnard -- the surgeon who performed the world's first heart transplant -- and Jimmy Carter's wife, Rosalynn.
