The Manitoba Bisons women’s basketball team prepares for the upcoming 2011-12 season by announcing two more new recruits. Bisons women’s basketball head coach Pam Danis, entering her 11th season with Manitoba, is pleased to announce the commitment of Brittany Koop and Rebecca Potter to the Bison program for the 2011-12 season.
Danis stated, “We are excited to have these two local athletes join our team. Both Brittany and Rebecca are hard workers and their effort will help our team compete in both practices and games.”
Koop, 17, is a 5’10” guard/forward that completed her high school career with a provincial championship at River East Collegiate. She was named as a provincial championship all-star after River East 2011 “AAAA” High School Basketball Championships. Koop was captain of River East while averaging 21 points per game, seven rebounds per game plus set a school record with 85 three-pointers in 2010-11 season. The Winnipeg native had numerous other accolades in 2010-11 as she was named to All-Manitoba Team; player of the game for MBCA graduating all-star game; numerous tournament all-star and MVP; rated number four in Winnipeg Sun Top 10 varsity player list. She has also been part of the Junior Bison Basketball program plus has represented Manitoba on provincial teams during her career.
Potter, 18, is a 6’2” forward that finished her high school career at Glenlawn Collegiate. As the captain of Glenlawn, she averaged 12 points, seven rebounds and three assists per game in 2010-11 while receiving the al Thompson award in 2011 for outstanding contribution to Glenlawn athletics. She has also been part of the Junior Bison Basketball program.
