The CMNT tryouts run from May 20 – 23 at Ryerson University in Toronto. Included in the invite is Manitoba player Junior Sesay and coach Kirby Schepp. Junior is a member of the Manitoba Provincial Team and Centre for Performance and was a first team All-Canadian at last summer's Male National Championships hosted in Winnipeg. He is currently a student at Oak Park High School in Winnipeg.  2011 marks the third year that coach Kirby Schepp has worked with the national Cadet program. He was a member of the 2010 World National Championship Bronze Medal Team and is a part Manitoba Provincial Team and Centre for Performance Coach. He is currently the head coach of the Manitoba Bison's Men's Basketball Team. Hailing from across the nation, 30 of the top age-eligible male athletes have been invited to compete for a roster spot on the 2011 CMNT and have the chance to represent Canada on the international stage. This summer’s team will compete at the 2011 FIBA Americas U16 Championship for Men in Cancun, Mexico taking place from June 21-25.  Last summer, Canada’s Cadet Team made history by beating Lithuania and winning the bronze medal at the first ever FIBA U17 World Championship for Men in Hamburg, Germany.


Hailing from across thenation, 30 of the top age-eligible male athletes have been invited to competefor a roster spot on the 2011 CMNT and have the chance to represent Canada on theinternational stage. This summer’s team will compete at the 2011 FIBA AmericasU16 Championship for Men in Cancun,Mexico takingplace from June 21-25. 

The only invited athlete returning from last year’steam is Andrew Wiggins (Concord, ON), while other CMNT hopefuls include notable names suchas Tanveer Bhullar (North York, ON) and Kevin Zabo (Gatineau,QC), who both participated in theCMNT training camp last summer. Zabo helped Quebecwin gold at the 2010 17U National Championships in Winnipeg, where he was also named to theSecond All-Star Team as a fifteen year old.

The list of invited athletes includes 2010 15UNational Championship standouts such as Tyrell Bellot-Green (Toronto,ON), who helped Ontario win the gold and was namedtournament Most Valuable Player. First All-Star Team selections MalcolmDuvivier (Toronto, ON),Patrick Steeves (Montreal, QC),Noah Daoust (Dorval, QC),Jamie Madewan (Richmond, BC)and Junior Sesay (Winnipeg, MB);and Second All-Star Team selections Daniel Foo (CornerBrook, NL), Chase Ruttenberg (North Vancouver,BC) and Kemar Alleyne (Toronto, ON),will also be present this weekend.

In the first ever FIBA Americas U16 Championship forMen in 2009, Canada defeatedVenezuelato claim the bronze medal and qualify for the 2010 FIBA U17 World Championship.The top three finishers of this summer’s competition will qualify for the 2012FIBA U17 World Championship in Lithuania.
