Sample ImageAfter helping their high school team succeed, Turell Scott and Alex Klocek are hoping to carry on their winning ways at the university level, specifically at Brandon University. Both Scott and Klocek have committed to play for the Brandon Bobcats starting in the fall of 2011.  Scott and Klocek both played for Gleneagle Secondary this past season, leading the Talons to their first British Columbia AAA provincial tournament in six years.

Alex Klocek (left) and Turell Scott are team mates with the Gleneagle Talons who will both play for the Brandon Bobcats this fall.

The two put up similar numbers in their senior seasons as well. Scott, a 6’5” wing, averaged 16 points, seven rebounds and three assists per game for Gleneagle Secondary last season, while Klocek, a 6’4” wing put up 15 points and 10 rebounds per game.

Both Scott and Klocek are eager to contribute to the Bobcats by any means necessary.

“I watched some videos of the Bobcats and it looks like a team that could develop into a strong contender in Canada West and CIS and I want to be a part of that,” says Scott. “I’m looking forward to university basketball. I want to help out in any way I can. I’m very fortunate for this opportunity and I want to make the most of it.”

“The school is a great pick for me. It will be a new experience to move away and try something new, but it’s a great school and I really want to play basketball so it’s definitely the right choice for me,” says Klocek.

“Both Turell and Alex are hard-workers who have the potential to be very good CIS players,” says head coach Gil Cheung. “Turell is long and athletic who has really added to his skill set this past season. I was impressed with his perimeter skills when I saw him last month and is physically beginning to mature. As he continues to put in time in the weight room, he will have a good transition to Canada West play.”

“Alex is one of the toughest players I have seen at any level. He is a competitor who will be moving his game to the perimeter at the CIS level. He has the ability to shoot from three as well as defend multiple positions. I know Alex is a great character guy that will only help our team on and off the court.

Scott plans to study sociology with the goal of one day becoming a police officer and Klocek plans to study sciences before going into physiotherapy.
