College hosts the 2011
Manitoba Colleges Athletic Conference


Men’s and Women’s Final 4 Basketball
Championships on Friday, March 11 and Saturday, March 12 in Otterburne, Manitoba

 



The #2 seeded men’s team,
the Red River College Rebels will be chasing their third consecutive conference
title against perennial rivals, the #3 ranked Canadian Mennonite University
Blazers, as well as MCAC newcomers; the University of Winnipeg College Wesmen
who are ranked #1, and the Oak Hills Christian College Wolf Pack from Bemidji,
Minnesota who are ranked #4.



The host Providence
College Freemen women will take their #4 ranking into the tournament and try to
turn some heads against the #1 ranked University of Winnipeg College Wesmen and
#3 ranked Canadian Mennonite University Blazers. The #2 ranked Red River
College Rebels will come into the weekend the heavy favourites after knocking
off the previously undefeated Wesmen twice, both by large margins, in early
February.



Providence will also be hosting the 2010-2011 basketball awards luncheon
on Saturday morning where the MCAC will name their men’s and women’s
all-conference team and regular season MVP selections. Men’s and Women’s Final
4 tournament MVPs will be awarded Saturday evening following their respected
championship games.
