Kickballs
for Kids

Kickballs for Kids was founded by local young sports enthusiast, Chris Thompson, from Stonewall, Manitoba. While vacationing in Africa, Chris was encouraged to see children in some of the poorest African countries share his passion for soccer. He was inspired by the children and set his goal of handing out 1,000 soccer balls before his return to Canada.

Basketball for Inner City Kids

Basketball for Inner City Kids is a grassroots project that gives children in Winnipeg’s inner city the chance to play organized basketball while getting exercise, improving self-confidence and setting goals for higher education. The participants earn education credits and scholarships through The University of Winnipeg’s Opportunity Fund and The International Center.

LCS Varsity Girls’ Team Challenge Donation

Our Varsity Girls’ Charity Basketball Tournament is also hosting a major drive with all our students, participating tournament teams and community to collect new or gently used basketballs, basketball apparel, including shorts, jerseys and athletic clothing which will be shared with Winnipeg’s Inner City Basketball teams.

Highlights from the
2010 Charity Tournament

The Tournament raised $3200.00 for the 2010 Tournament charities: Shine the Light Ministries and Basketball for Inner City Kids. The Team Donation Challenge was successful in donating new and gently used runners, basketballs and jerseys to Winnipeg’s inner city youth teams.

If you would like to support the event, please contact Dan Neufeld at coach.neufeld@mts.net.  A tournament schedule will be updated here in the coming weeks!
