COACH OF THE YEAR HONORS PRESENTED
TO MELANIE REYES
The
2009-2010
WMBA Bruce Russell Memorial Coach of the Year Award was formally
presented to Melanie Reyes of Garden City Community Centre.
This past fallseason, Melanie coached the Garden City 9 Boys team and
this spring coached the Garden City 10 Boys team. Special thanks to
Bruce's daughter, Alana and his wife Liza
Russell who were on hand to present the award to Michael. Melanie says “
I started coaching my youngest sons basketball team when a coach could
not be found, and I instantly fell in love with coaching. It gives me
great pride to see kids who are new to the game become better players
and enjoy playing as a team. As a coach to see a player get their first
basket is amazing. I wouldn't trade it for anything! I am so proud of
the kids that I have coached and I can't wait until next season!"
WMBA FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP
AWARDED
At
the AGM, the WMBA Foundation announced the two recipients of the fifth
annual WMBA Scholarship to Robin
Quintana & Hailey Kell in the
amount of $500 each.
Robin
and Hailey have been very actively
involved in the WMBA.
