The University of Winnipeg Wesmen and Head Coach Tanya McKay are pleased to announce that Siera Bubb from Oak Park High School has committed to joining the University of Winnipeg  Women’s Basketball program in September for the start of the 2010-2011 season. Bubb, a 6’0 forward is rated as one of the top players coming out of Manitoba high schools this year.








Siera Bubb She averaged 22 points, 12 rebounds and three steals per game for the
Raiders squad that were a finalist in the AAAA Provincial Championships
back in March.



Siera was named the MVP of the Ranger
Insurance High School Girls Classic, Pembina Trails, Piper Classic and
Raiders Classic Tournaments. She was named an all-star at the AAAA
Championships as well at the St.Vital and WWWAC/WSD Tournament.



She was recently named to the 2010 High
School Girl’s AAAA- All Manitoba Team and this past summer was a member
of the 2009 Manitoba Juvenile Provincial Team that participated at the
Canada Summer Games in Prince Edward Island.



“We are very pleased Siera has decided to
join our Wesmen program. She is very athletic, dominates the boards and
brings a real competitive edge to our team. She will make a great
addition”, said Tanya McKay, Head Coach University of Winnipeg Women’s
Basketball program.



“Siera had a tremendous impact on the
2009-10 Oak Park Raiders, helping them reach the 2010 Provincial AAAA
Finals.  Siera was the leading scorer and rebounder on the team.
Throughout the year Siera demonstrated outstanding growth both on and
off the court.  We look forward to watching that growth continue as she
moves forward with her basketball career with Coach McKay at the
University of Winnipeg.  Playing in front of her friends and family will
be a great opportunity for Siera.  We see a bright future for Siera at
the U of W where she will join Oak Park grads Amy Ogidan and Alyssa
Grant on the 2010-11 edition of the Wesmen”, added Murray Brown, Oak
Park High School Varsity Girl’s Basketball Head Coach.
