The University of Winnipeg Wesmen and Head
Coach Tanya McKay are pleased to announce that Yael Kaplan, from the
Gray Academy has committed to joining the University of Winnipeg Women’s
Basketball program in September for the start of the 2010-2011 season.





https://www.uwinnipeg.ca/pix/athletics/thumbnails/thumbYaelKaplan.gif Kaplan is a high scoring 5’7” guard who averaged 33.5 points per game for the Raiders this past season. An all-round player, she averaged 11.2 assists, 9.2 rebounds, five steals and was a 92% shooter from the free throw line. She was named MVP at the Rosenberg, Virden and Neepawa Tournaments and was selected to the First All-Star Team at the Chat Tournament in Toronto.



Her impressive play earned her the MHSAA Athlete of the Week for February 8-12, 2010. Yael will graduate from the Gray Academy in June and presently holds an academic average of 94%. She is presently enrolled in the Faculty of Science, but is currently considering studying medicine in September at the University of Winnipeg. 



“We are very pleased Yael has committed to our program. She brings a competitive drive that is hard to teach. She can play the point and has the ability to score”, added Wesmen Head Coach Tanya McKay.
