RTC Coach Applications Now Being Accepted

Basketball Manitoba announced today that it is now accepting applications for coaches in the 2009-10 Regional Training Centre program.  This fall / winter, there will be 6 RTC programs offered in Manitoba in the Westman, Central and Winnipeg Regions at the male and female level. The Westman and Central programs will be open to athletes at the 12-17 age level and the Winnipeg RTC will target athletes in the 12-15 range.  Winnipeg and other Manitoba region athletes at the 16-17 age level will be eligible to participate in the Centre for Performance program.  Interested coaching candidates are to apply in writing before the deadline of Friday August 7, 2009 in order to be considered.

 

The Regional Training Centres are patterned after the Centre for Performance Program (CP) and strive to provide athletes an opportunity to enhance their basketball skill level in preparation for the Manitoba Provincial Teams (15U & 17U), the Nike Centres for Performance and beyond. In addition to this, they promote individual skills, team concepts, strength and agility education, time management, and planning and personal development skills.

1. Head Coach / Assistant Coach - Westman RTC - Male Team


2. Head Coach / Assistant Coach - Westman RTC - Female Team


3. Head Coach / Assistant Coach - Central RTC - Male Team 
   
   


4. Head Coach / Assistant Coach - Central RTC - Female Team  


5. Head Coach / Assistant Coach - Winnipeg RTC - Male Team


6. Head Coach / Assistant Coach - Winnipeg RTC - Female Team

Qualifications

• Head Coach = Full Level 2 NCCP Certification or higher and minimum 2 seasons of experience as a head coach at a minimum of Grade 10 Level (or equivalent).


• Assistant Coaches = Full Level 1 NCCP Certification or higher


• All coaches must complete the Sport Manitoba Respect in Sport online program


• All coaches must complete a current criminal background check (CPIC) 


• All coaches must have completed a first aid and athlete injury educational program recognized by Basketball Manitoba.


• People looking to be involved with a team's whose
  gender is opposite to their own must have a head or assistant coach of
  the same gender to that of the team to be eligible to coach.

Honorarium

Successful applicants are eligible to receive an honorarium at the completion of the program.
