With a 55-42 win over their cross-town rivals, the Red River Rebels women's basketball team took the 2009 title by defeating Canadian Mennonite University in game 2 of the best-of-three MCAC Championship Final. Red River's Shaylyn Stutsky was named the tournament MVP. Soon after their victory, the Red River men's team defeated Canadian Mennonite University 93-63 in their Championship Final.
