BRANDON, MB – Brandon University's Dany Charlery has been named a Second Team All-Canadian during the All-Canadian Reception, part of the Canadian Interuniversity Sport National Basketball Championships that are being hosted by Carleton University this weekend. The reception unveiled Canada’s top student-athlete award winners this evening in Ottawa.  Charlery is one of Canada’s premier athletes, ranked sixth in Canada in scoring during the 2008-09 regular season. He accumulated 438 points overall, averaging 20.86 points per game. In the Canada West conference these numbers rank him second overall.

“This is a huge step for
Dany, as he was a First Team Canada West All-Star in the 2007-08 season; and now
he has elevated his game to a Second Team All-Canadian," says Athletic Director
Kirk De Fazio. "We are extremely proud of Dany and his leadership this year with
the Bobcats.”

Coach Keith Vassell has praise for his superstar athlete, “Dany is one of
Canada’s most gifted athletes. It is
an honor to coach him. I am excited to coach Dany again in his final year at BU
in the 2009-10 season, when I am certain he will become a First Team
All-Canadian in Canada.”

Dany Charlery will return
to BU in 2009-10 for his fifth and final year of eligibility with the Bobcats.
He will lead his team in the newly formed East division of the Canada West
conference in the CIS. Dany also plans to graduate next year in April, 2010 with
a Bachelor of Arts degree.
