The Grade 7 Boys Manitoba Magic basketball team competed in Vancouver,
British Columbia, in the first ever Grade 7 Boys Western Canadian
Invitational Club Championships over the May long weekend. The team was
up against the top teams from British Columbia and Alberta. The teams
from BC included RYBL (Richmond), 3D (North Shore) the BC
Provincial Champions, and RBL Rebels (Vancouver) the Steve Nash
Challenge Champions (BC). From Alberta, they played against CYDC. Their round
robin scores over the weekend were as follows:

- Game 1 – against 3D (North Shore) 67 – 41
- Game 2 – against RBL Rebels (Vancouver) 73 – 66
- Game 3 – against RYBL (Richmond) 64 – 55
- Game 4 – against CYDC (Calgary) 72 – 58
They met RYBL (Richmond) again in the semi-finals and won 63 – 38. All three Vancouver teams were knocked out of the finals and Manitoba Magic went up against CYDC Calgary. Both teams played exceptionally well, but the Manitoba Magic team just dominated the game and won the tournament with a score of 68 -53. The Magic's overall ir record was 6 – 0.
