Basketball Manitoba and the Winnipeg Minor Basketball Association are pleased to announce that Heather Booy has joined the office as its new Program Administrator effective September 10, 2007.  Heather is a recent graduate of the recreation leadership program at Providence College in Otterburn, Manitoba.  A native of Winkler, Manitoba, she has an extensive playing and administrative history with basketball at the high school and college levels.

This position is a shared venture with Basketball Manitoba and the WMBA.  Her responsibilities with Basketball Manitoba will include its elite (CP and Provincial Team Program), technical (coach and referee clinics) and special events (NBA 3 on 3, Steve Nash Youth Basketball, Todd MacCulloch Hoops School and league and administrative support. 



With the WMBA, Heather will be assisting Executive Director, Susie
Laping with the day to day operations with Manitoba’s largest youth
basketball league.



Heather grew up in Winkler, Manitoba where she attended high school at
Garden Valley Collegiate, graduating in 2003. She continued her education at Providence College, graduating in 2006 with a
Bachelor of Arts in Recreation Leadership. In September she began her work here
at Basketball Manitoba.



Basketball has always been a large part of her life, in
which she continued her career after high school competing at the college level
for four years.  In her final year, she
was named American All-Region at Nationals in Oklahoma and team MVP. She also was a part
of the women’s volleyball team her first year and the women’s soccer for three
years during her time at Providence.
