Brandon University is a leader in providing high quality education to over 3,000 full and part-time students in arts, sciences, education, music, and health studies.  Based in southwestern Manitoba, Brandon University also offers pre-professional and Masters programs, as well as innovative and award-winning outreach programs in a personalized learning environment.  Applications are invited for a term Men’s Basketball Head Coach position until April 25, 2008. The Head Coach position is a combination of responsibilities with coaching duties comprising 50% of those responsibilities.  The Head Coach oversees the organization, administration and recruitment of student-athletes for the Men’s Basketball program.



 



The Head Coach also assumes other responsibilities including a key role in the promotion of the program, in fundraising, coordination of Basketball camp(s) and in alumni and community development. Depending upon qualifications, the incumbent may be assigned teaching or other professional responsibilities or, alternatively, additional administrative duties may be assigned.



Qualifications



  • Academic qualifications may range from Doctorate or Masters Degree to Undergraduate degree with NCCP Certification

  • Superior communication, organizational, fundraising and management skills.

  • Basketball coaching experience, preferably at the college or university level.

  • Successful recruiting and fundraising track record.

  • Applicants must have a minimum of Level III NCCP Certification in Basketball.

  • Relevant teaching experience in the public school or university setting is an asset.

  • A further asset to applicants would be specialty training/certification at an instructor/conductor level in such areas as: CPR/Red Cross Training, etc.





Starting Date:  July 16 or when the position is filled.

Rank and Salary: Commensurate with experience and qualifications.
