Michael Tan has been involved with the Manitoba Provincial Team program at the 15U and 17U levels in different capacities since 2009. Michael was the head coach of the 2011 Western Canada Games team that won a silver medal and an assistant coach with the 2017 Canada Games Team that won a bronze medal. In 2016, Michael began working as an assistant coach with the TAP Program, previously known as the Centre of Performance. 

Michael has been a coach at Sisler High School since 2005. He helped lead the Sisler Varsity Girls team to back-to-back provincial championships in 2015 and 2016.  His teams have also reached the Provincial Championship Final Four several times, with the most recent appearance during the 2021-2022 season.  

Michael’s teams are consistently in the top 10, and since taking over the varsity girls program, several of his players have gone on to play at the College, USport and NCAA Division 1 level. He has coached various teams at all levels, from junior high at Stanley Knowles to the club system with the Manitoba Magic and NABA and FBA Winnipeg.
