Over 150 participants of the Todd Mac Hoops School were at St. John's High School on Wednesday evening to wrap up the program with the annual year-end jamboree.  The event brought together all 8 Winnipeg inner-city schools to close off the 8-week program with a series of skill competitions and games.  Each fall, 8 inner city Winnipeg schools are selected to take part in the program. Each school is given a head coach that together with coaches from the school take the participants through 8 specific sessions. The program traditionally runs October through December out of the Winnipeg schools.  A similar program also runs April to June out of 5+ inner-city Winnipeg schools.  All participants receive a Basketball Manitoba shirt and basketball.

The program has been designed to teach basic basketball skills to inner city youth (ages 12-14) in a basketball camp environment. The program was initiated by Basketball Manitoba together with NBA player Todd MacCulloch. The program is completely funded by Todd MacCulloch and the Sport Manitoba Bi-Lateral Program and was written by Winnipeg native Garth McAlpine.
