    Winnipeg's Taneesha Greaves Announced as New Jr NBA Program Ambassador for MB/SK

    Basketball Manitoba is pleased to share the news that Winnipeg's Taneesha Greaves has recently been announced as the new Jr NBA Rookie Edition Program Ambassador for both Manitoba and Saskatchewan. The Jr. NBA is a national program which provides an entry-level basketball program for young children 5 to 7 years old by providing a fun, active and healthy learning environment.  Programs are currently operating in Swan River, Winkler, Altona, and out of 6 clubs with the Winnipeg Minor Basketball Association including Maples, Lindenwoods, Red River, Kirkfield Westwood, Brock Corydon and Earl Grey Community Centres with more coming on board in the coming months.

    Taneesha is a very active person in the local basketball community with involvement in Manitoba's Provincial Team Program (as both a player and now coach), Centre for Performance, founding and operating the 'AthELITEs and Beyond' skill development program and currently leading a Jr NBA Session at Lindenwoods community club.  She is a former NCAA Division 1 student-athlete (University of South Dakota) and has also been a part of the coaching staff for various Summer Camps offered by the University of South Dakota, developing female athletes ages 6-18.

    Our ClubsPrior to her coaching career, Greaves played 2 years of high school basketball at Glenlawn Collegiate, where she was announced one of Winnipeg's Top 10 Basketball players, held an Alternate Player position on the Canadian Cadette Women's National Team, and achieved a First-Team All-Canadian award at the Canadian National Championships.  Following her two years at Glenlawn, Greaves transferred to the National Basketball Powerhouse, Oak Hill Academy in Virginia.  While at Oak Hill Academy, Greaves was ranked in the top 100 in a pair of scouting publications in the United States – the Carolina Scouting Report and the National Women’s Basketball Insider and was presented with the Coach’s Award. After her successes in high school basketball in both Canada and USA, she then went to play Division 1 basketball at the University of South Dakota.

    The ProgramPart of her new duties with the Jr NBA program, Taneesha will...
    1. Lead the Jr. NBA ‘train the trainer’ session for assigned clubs
    2. Provide consistent communication with Jr NBA clubs
    3. Provide ongoing training and support for the coaches participating in the program
    4. Be responsible for collection of signed Jr. NBA waivers
    5. Administer Jr. NBA evaluation session at end of program with each of the clubs
    6. Assist in identifying potential clubs for the program and developing program calendar; maintain and update database of clubs in the province.
    7. Ensure all basketball equipment is delivered to all clubs and collect remaining payment
    8. Communicate and provide timely feedback regarding issues or concerns
    9. Management the database of the local Jr NBA clubs
