I have a young child interested in playing basketball. What options do they have?

If you are in the Winnipeg area, please contact the Winnipeg Minor Basketball Association at http://www.wmba.ca. They offer structured leagues for children ages 6-19. Other options include you local YMCA or looking in the Leisure Guide for options provided by the City of Winipeg.
Typically school basketball begins in grade 7 and up. Some elementary schools may also have a basketball program too - check with your physed teacher or school administration.
Other options outside the city are fewer. It is suggested you get a club team together with children of similar age and build a program in your area. Contact us for more guidance and support! |
