Program Overview     (top)

All ages are based on December 31 of the year the tryouts occur. The teams are chosen from open tryouts that occur in early April and any Manitoba resident who is in one of the two age categories is eligible and welcome to tryout. Once the teams are chosen, they practice and compete together throughout the spring and summer and participate in the National Basketball Championships for their category, which usually occur in early August. Leading up to Nationals the teams will also host or travel to other tournaments in preparation for Nationals.

Child Fitness Tax Credit      (top)

The Federal Government is now offering a tax credit to families who have their children involved in physical activities – including basketball. Basketball Manitoba will gladly issue a proper receipt to families on request for the amounts paid into the Provincial Team Program. Based on the tax guidelines, the value of the combined credit to a Manitoba resident will result in a $132 tax credit per child (based on a maximum eligible claim of $500 per child; 15.5% federally and 10.9% provincially of the eligible credit amount). Request your official Child Fitness Tax Credit Receipt to Heather Booy.
