17U Male Assistant Coach - Luke Penner

Luke Penner has been an active basketball coach since 2010, the year he graduated high school.  In 2016-17, he coached with several successful teams including Linden Christian School, Canadian Mennonite University, University of Manitoba, and the Niagara River Lions (of the NBL-C).

In 3 years of coaching with Linden Christian School at the Varsity level, Luke had made the Provincial Finals every year (1 win, 2 losses).  While at the University of Manitoba, he had the opportunity to see the transition of the Bison program into a National contender, while being mentored by Kirby Schepp.  Upon joining the Canadian Mennonite University as an assistant, Luke saw the team win the MCAC Championship in 2017, ending the Red River College streak of 8 in a row.

In the summer of 2017, Luke also had the opportunity to coach at Duke University’s elite basketball camp, learning from coach Mike Krzyzewski, and his coaching staff.  Luke’s education includes a Bachelor of Science degree (Biology), and a Masters of Science degree (Biomechanics) from the University of Manitoba.  Luke has also completed his NCCP Train to Compete certification.
