On behalf of the board of Basketball Manitoba and the entire Manitoba basketball community, I would like to recognize and thank all of the volunteers who were involved in the recently concluded and very successful 17U and 15U Male National Championships, August 1-6 at the University of Winnipeg.

We had many compliments from the visiting provinces and fans about how helpful and efficient our almost 200 volunteers were during the week in all areas – spectator services, security and game floor crew. A special shout-out to our scorers, timers, stats-takers and public address people under the leadership of Glenn Matsumoto and Karla Gould for their outstanding efforts in the 58 games played over the six days.

Also, special recognition goes to our intern, Diana Mogatas, who handled all the scheduling and assigning of volunteers and our 15U and 17U male teams for their hard work before and after the tournament with the installation and removal of the portable floor in the RecPlex. We know that hosting these events would be impossible without this outstanding volunteer support. The Board and staff at Basketball Manitoba feel very fortunate to have such a large base of dedicated people who are always willing to assist in such events.

The above volunteer video includes many of the volunteers who worked with us during the week.  If you would like to download an image from the presentation, they all can be found HERE.

Thank you all very much and a reminder that we hope to see everyone volunteering again at the same basketball venue next year in week #1 of the Canada Summer Games, July 28-August 5, 2017.  As a volunteer with us in 2016, we will be able to request you stay with the basketball venue in 2017 if you sign up again!

This past week has been a perfect example of our motto at Basketball Manitoba – Together We Grow Basketball !
