Basketball Manitoba is proud to announce that Manitoba has been awarded the hosting rights for the 2016 National Championships for the 15U and 17U Male level by Canada Basketball.  The event will occur August 1-6, 2016 at the University of Winnipeg Duckworth Centre and will attract the top 325 male basketball players at this age from across Canada.

Adam Wedlake, Basketball Manitoba's Executive Director commented, "We are proud to be able to showcase the top talent in the country once again here in Winnipeg and get ready for the Canada Games in 2017!  The 2016 Championships will be used as the official test event for the 2017 Canada Games which will be in Winnipeg the following summer.  We look forward to welcoming all athletes, coaches, officials, and families from across the country to Friendly Manitoba!"

Basketball Manitoba would like to acknowledge the University of Winnipeg and  Tourism Winnipeg for their support thus far in the process to be able to host the championships in Winnipeg!

The 15U & 17U Female National Championships have been awarded to Regina, Saskatchewan who will host that event July 25-30, 2016 at the University of Regina.




 
A call for volunteers will be made early in 2016 to assist with the operations of the event.  Manitoba last hosted the Nationals in 2010 & 2011.
