    17U Female Assistant Coach - Michael Tan

    Michael returns to the Provincial Team Program after last leading the 14U program in 2010 and 2011.  Since then Michael has been involved with Basketball Manitoba and the Provincial Team Program in different capacities since 2010.  Michael is currently an assistant coach for the 17U Female Manitoba Centre for Performance program.

    In 2011, Michael led the Manitoba 14U Female Provincial Team to a Silver Medal at the Western Canada Games, this was the first ever medal won by the Province in female basketball in the history of the Western Canada Games.
    Michael is currently the Head Coach of the Sisler Varsity Girl’s Basketball Program.


    Michael started off coaching at Sisler with the Grade 9 Girl’s team in 2006, Michael helped lead them to back to back Provincial Invitational Championships.  In 2008, Michael helped take over the Varsity Girl’s Program and since then has helped lead the program to 6 Final Four appearances, along with 3 Championship Game appearances.  In 2015 Michael helped lead the team to the school’s first ever Provincial Championship with a 33-1 overall record.  In 2014 Michael was named the MBCA AAAA Coach of the Year.  Michael has also helped coach teams under the Manitoba Magic and NABA Club organizations.  Michael is a certified NCCP Level 2 coach.

    Michael has recently returned to school and is pursuing an education degree.
