    17U Assistant Coach - Norm Froemel

    Norm Froemel has been an active basketball coach and player since 1987. Norm played elementary school basketball at Niakwa Place, his high school at J.H. Bruns and his university career at the University of Winnipeg.  He set all-time Wesmen career records in shooting percentage and rebounding. He was a three-time GPAC (Great Plains Athletic Conference) All-Star in 1991-92, 1993-94, and 1994-95. In 1994-95, when he averaged 23.7 points per game, he was selected a first team CIS All-Canadian.

    After that, he represented the Canadian National team at numerous events in the world including in Argentina, Malaysia, Taiwan, and the United States, winning a silver medal at the World Student Games in Buffalo, New York in 1993.  He played professionally overseas in Germany for seven years.

    After his playing career, Norm became a physical education teacher at J.H. Bruns and coached the J.V. and Varsity basketball teams. Norm has also helped at numerous clinics and camps throughout his playing and coaching days. Norm was inducted into the Manitoba basketball hall of fame in the player category in 2013 in recognition of his outstanding career.
