Ages: Open to Male and Female ages 13-18 (Grade 7 to 12)

Focus of the camp:

Coach Giesbrecht will focus on Ball-handling, 1on1 Play, and Pick and Roll Play.

On the first day, players will focus on ball-handling skills and 1on1 play. Skill work includes dribbling (Changing speed, creating separation), passing (Time on target) and finishing (Touch around the basket, exploring different finishes).

On the second day, Coach Giesbrecht will create a learning environment like no other, not only will players gain valuable understanding of pick and roll play through on-court work, but players will also breakdown video with Jon for further understanding. Through working with high school, provincial and university players, Coach Giesbrecht believes that the pick and roll is misunderstood by players alike, that’s why Pick and Roll play will be a major focus of the camp… Being able to read the defense, and attack pick and roll coverages is a skill that can be worked on and is essential for the development of every player.

The core objectives of the second day are:

1. Improve decision making while reinforcing spacing in pick and roll play (Enable players to make       quicker    decisions by reading the defense)

2. Gain further understanding of pick and roll defense and how to attack it (Counters VS Coverages)

3. Teach skills and concepts through a games approach
