TORONTO, ON – Canada Basketball is pleased to launch Game Plan , a comprehensive coaching education platform, packed with coaching tools and videos, as well as online access to National Coaching Certification Program training courses.

“Coaches are the cornerstone of developing the game. One of the challenges of our country being so large is ensuring equal access to educational and technical tools,” said Michele O’Keefe, Executive Director of Canada Basketball. “Game Plan enables us to bring the Canadian coaching community together and provide them with the tools they need to succeed, which is paramount in fostering basketball across this country.”

Coaches will now have access to various coaching tools, videos, expert resources, as well as updates on Canadian coaching schools, conferences and events. Tools include an athlete performance planner, practice and season planner, and Jes-Soft drill builder.

Manager of Canada Basketball’s Coaching Education, Dawn Smyth, is pleased to see the vision finally become a reality: “It’s exciting to have a place for our coaches to go and learn, it’s something I always wanted as a coach and I’m glad we’re able to provide it,” she said.

“Planning a season can be time consuming, but with these tools it can now be done with a touch of a few buttons and is easy to share.  We’ve also begun working with expert sport researchers to ensure our coaches have continued access to the most up to date resources and research.”

A key aspect of Game Plan is providing NCCP course registration online, so coaches will be able to search for courses in multiple provinces and see NCCP courses and professional development opportunities well in advance. Course pre-tasks and portfolios will also be completed on Game Plan. This process will help streamline the communication between the provinces and NCCP.

Game Plan is $49.95 CAD for a five-year subscription and is open to coaches at all levels currently residing in Canada.  For the next three months, Canada Basketball is offering a five-year subscription for free to coaches who have taken an old or new NCCP basketball course.

Taking another step further in coaching development, Canada Basketball will lead its inaugural NCCP Super Clinic this spring. The nine gyms, nine classroom clinic will take place over one-weekend (May 29-31) at University of Toronto and Ryerson University. Registration will open at the end of February on Game Plan.
