Winkler to Host 3on3 Basketball Tournament August 9 for Ages 12+

Our Purpose

Our primary purpose is to increase interest and awareness of basketball in our community. In addition, we also want to give back to the community that supports us. As a result, our events are designed to help support other local activities that promote active living.

What is 3on3

3on3 (or 3x3) is a form of basketball designed for simplicity both in its rules and facility requirements. All you need is a basketball hoop, ball, about a half court of space and 5 friends to play with. With over 250 million players worldwide, FIBA sees 3x3 basketball is a key part of the ongoing development of the sport.

• Time: 9:00 am to completion (Registration table opens at 8:30)
• Location: Parkland School basketball pad (just north of the Harvest Festival grounds)
• Deadline to Register: Monday, August 4
• Team Size: 3 or 4 players (must provide own dark and light coloured jerseys)
• Fee: $20
• Guaranteed Games: Minimum of 3
• Rules: See full Rules and Regulations download below. Games are 15 minutes or first to 21 points. Referees will be used if available otherwise all fouls are to be called by the defense or the decision will be deferred to a Court Monitor. A size 6 ball will be used for all age divisions.

Winkler 3on3 hosts a fun, family-friendly 3on3 basketball tournament for athletes on the Saturday of the Harvest Festival in Winkler, MB. Our 2014 Harvest Festival Tournament will be giving its proceeds to Winkler Minor Basketball.

The registration table will open at 8:30 am with the tournament's first games beginning at 9:00 am. All teams must check-in at the registration table to take care of their entry fee, registration form and waivers at least 30 minutes prior to their first game. Identification confirming each player's date of birth is required. Participants under the age of 18 at the time of the tournament must have their waiver form signed by a parent/guardian.

Teams will be divided into age divisions. The appropriate age division for a team will be based on the age of the oldest player on the team. Teams can register in one of the following divisions:
        Men
            12U (Born in 2002-2004)
            15U (Born in 1999 or later)
            18U (Born in 1996 or later)
            19+ ( Born in 1995 or earlier)
        Women
            12U (Born in 2002-2004)
            15U (Born in 1999 or later)
            18U (Born in 1996 or later)
            19+ ( Born in 1995 or earlier)

Each age division will need a minimum of four teams in order for it to compete. Teams will take part in a two game round robin followed by a single-elimination tournament meaning each team will be guaranteed three games.

Please read the Tournament Rules and Regulations download for full details on our sportsmanship and game-play policies. When teams register, they agree to abide by all tournament rules and regulations and understand that entry fees, registration forms and waivers must be turned in prior to their first game.

The deadline to register is Monday, August 4. Please note that the parking lot at Parkland School is reserved for the vendors of the Harvest Festival. Festival organizers recommend participants walk, bike or carpool as parking in the area is limited. Any vehicle without proper identification in the Parkland School lot will be towed at the owner's expense.

Tournament Sign-up Form

Please fill out the tournament sign-up form below. You must include your name, email and select an age division. In the Team Details section you must also include a contact number, the names and birth dates of all players on the team and a team name. The contact information given in this form will be used to contact the team to confirm their round robin game times in the week leading up to August 9. Official registration forms and waivers must be completed prior to teams competing in their first game. Please note the Parkland School parking lot is reserved for Harvest Festival vendors. Any vehicles found parked without proper identification will be towed at the owner's expense. The Harvest Festival recommends participants walk, bike or carpool to the festival grounds due to limited parking in the area.
