Bison Women's Basketball head coach Michele Hynes has announced the commitment of local recruit Montana Kinzel for the upcoming 2014-2015 season.  Montana was the 4th ranked player in the province this past season playing for Linden Christian High School. Coming off a AAA provincial championship in 2012-2013, the AAA school competed in the AAAA division this past high school season. A team with not a lot of depth Montana was forced to carry a heavy load of minutes and become a more versatile player. Averaging 24 points, 10 rebounds, 3 steals and 3 blocks per game, she guided her squad to a 26-5 record. Her play this past season earned her a AAAA Female All-Manitoba Team selection and Graduating All-Star Team MVP.

The Winnipeg native is a well rounded student-athlete having competed at a high level in both basketball and track & field, while maintaining honour role status in school. Montana has competed nationally the past four summers (2010-2013) with Team Manitoba, which was capped off by a Bronze Medal at the 2013 Canada Summer Games in Sherbrooke, QB. In 2013 she was the MBCA AAA Female Basketball Player of the Year, AAA VG Champion in Volleyball & Basketball, Basketball Team MVP and the recipient of the Linden Christian School Outstanding Contribution to Athletics award. She also completed a mission trip to Guatemala last winter and remains heavily involved in her school community.

"We are absolutely thrilled to welcome Montana into the Bison Program" says Hynes. "Montana is a versatile guard and a tireless worker on and off the court - her work ethic is impressive in all ways. Adding her to our roster gives use depth at the guard spot and allows us to play with a variety of line-ups. She has commitment to excellence as a person and a player that will be a big asset to our program's future successes."
