don-lamont.jpgshirley-blanca.jpgross-wedlake.jpgOn Wednesday June 12, Basketball Manitoba hosted its 37th Annual General Meeting to review the past year and continue discussions on the future of the development of the game in the province.  A total of 30 key people were present representing all facets of the game from the university, college, school, club and other leagues which are connected with basketball in Manitoba.  The meeting also saw the election of the 2013-14 Basketball Manitoba Board of Directors by the membership.  Leaving the Board after a number of tremendous years of service includes Don Lamont and Shirley Blanca.  Both brought their passions for the game to the table and allowed the Association to grow under their direction.  Basketball Manitoba along with the basketball community as a whole would like to thank both Don & Shirley for all their time and dedication they have given to the sport of basketball!  Filling the vacancy in the Board saw a new member added in Edwin Garing.  Edwin is an active basketball coach in the WAAY and NABA programs and will bring a great new perspective to the table.  Another change that occurred at the meeting saw the election of a new President for the Association.  After 13 years of leadership, Joe DiCurzio will be taking on the role of Past President with Ross Wedlake becoming Basketball Manitoba's 7th President in its history.  Joining the Executive on the Board will be Tanya McKay as Vice President and Darren Sampson as Treasurer.  Also returning to the 10 member board will be Rod Peppler, Kirby Schepp, Joel Themmen, Trish Hallson and Neil Gottfred.  To view a copy of the AGM reports that were circulated at the meeting...
