    Alyssa Bauer and Alex Wolowiec Awarded WMBA Foundation Scholarships

    The WMBA Foundation has announced the recipients of the WMBA Foundation Scholarships for 2013. The recipients that were selected each receive a scholarship award of $500 to assist them in their post secondary studies.  Alyssa Bauer will be attending the University of Manitoba this coming fall to study Science. Alyssa is currently active in the WMBA as a player, coach and referee.  She started playing in the WMBA at the age of 5 as a part of the small ball program . Alyssa will continue to referee and coach while in university and hopes to one day coach a rising stars team.  Alex Wolowiec started playing basketball in the WMBA at Kirkfield West Community Centre at the age of 7. Since that time he has become an ambassador for the league as he is currently a player, coach and referee in the WMBA. Alex has also volunteered at the last 6 WMBA hoopfests. Alex will be attending the University of Manitoba to study Recreation management.  Both Alyssa and Alex continue to be outstanding ambassadors for the WMBA and basketball in general. Congratulations on your accomplishments and continued success both on and off the court!
