    Unity Basketball League to Begin Play This Summer

    The newly formed Indo-Canadian Basketball Association has announced it will be forming a new 'Unity Basketball League' scheduled to start late June, ending late August.  The objective of the UBL program is to provide an opportunity for young athletes to improve their fundamental skills of basketball and advance their knowledge of the game.  The UBL is opened to boys and girls new to the game of basketball and experienced athletes from the ages of 7 – 17.  Registration will occur on May 16 & 18 at Maples Collegiate.  For full details...









    UBL Registration @ Maples Collegiate

    Thursday, May 16th from 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

    Saturday May 18th from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.



    League Features Include:



    • Recreational Division: Will allow athletes new to the game a chance to learn the sport,  develop fundamentals and a chance to get active.

    • Competitive Division: Will allow seasoned athletes to compete at a high level that will improve their skill set and a chance to work with CIS and MCAC players and coaches.

    • Coaching and Teams: League will split athletes and provide coach’s accordingly to athlete’s skill sets and experience.

    • All athletes will be provided:

      • uniforms

      • 1 game per week

      • 1 practice per week

      • 1 skills camp per week



    • So Smooth Camp:  Weekly skill development camp run by So Smooth Basketball

      • Head Coach Sukhvir Singh – 5 time MCAC champion with Red River College Rebels






    This Unity Basketball League program will follow the Basketball Canada Long Term Athletic Development Model for training the young players. There will be balanced practice to game playing ratio.  The goal is to have 2 practices and 1 game per week. Skills development will be a focus, and the tenets of the Positive Coaching Alliance will be incorporated by the coaches and taught to players, and parents

    We will be contacting pre-registrants via email to keep you updated on the plans for the UBL.  We would also like to get an idea the number of athletes and the age levels that would be interested in playing.  We look forward to seeing you at the official registration on May 16th or May 18th.

    The league is currently looking for sponsors to help offset the costs for the running the league.  The organization is non-profit and wants to keep costs at a minimum for participants.  There is no set cost at this time as the cost will be based upon the amount of sponsorship dollars that can be raised.  If you are interested in sponsoring the program please fill out this online pledge form at:
